Mitra
An AI phone assistant that answers and makes calls on your own number; plans from $30 a month.
Group: Personal agents you message
Mitra is an AI assistant that answers and makes phone calls from your own number, and can also text, email, message on Slack, book appointments and do web tasks, according to its own site and TestingCatalog's coverage. On 5 and 6 October 2026 its founder announced Mitra Link, where your Mitra talks to other people's Mitras, and a chat takeover that lets it reply in a thread from your account.
The decision in plain English
Mitra lists three subscription plans at $30, $90 and $300 a month, with call hours as the main allowance, and a 7-day trial with 2 call hours. It speaks to people as you, so check transfer rules, what it may say and where your data goes before connecting accounts. Newest features (Mitra Link, chat takeover) are known only from announcements and press, not from Mitra's own help pages.
Best fit
People who want an assistant that handles phone calls on their own number, with live listening, transfer rules and call summaries, and who accept it speaking on their behalf.
Poor fit
Anyone who needs published approval limits, a detailed security statement or independent testing before letting an assistant talk to others as them.

Permissions and human control
- Mitra's site says you can set transfer rules, including whether it connects you directly or calls you first to ask, and that you can watch calls live, read the transcript and step in. TestingCatalog says permission settings govern access to connected apps and that Mitra Link lets you choose who can reach your Mitra. We did not find a full list of what Mitra may do without asking.
Documented controls do not prove that an agent always follows them.
Limits and open questions
- Pricing page lists call hours and says Mitra Link exchanges are limited, more or unlimited by plan, but gives no numbers for Link exchanges or virtual computer hours
- Mitra Link and chat takeover were announced 5 and 6 October 2026; we found no Mitra help page describing their controls, so details come from the founder's posts as reported by TestingCatalog
- Security answer on the pricing page is general (certified encryption, industry practice); we did not find a named certification, and the terms and privacy pages did not load for us
- Vendor legal name is not stated on the pages we read
- Described by the vendor; not tested by AgentComparison
Privacy and security
Mitra's pricing FAQ says it uses your data to improve its AI systems unless you opt out in settings, never shares it with third parties without your explicit consent (unless required by law), and uses certified encryption. The pages do not name a certification. Calls are recorded and transcribed according to the site's call summary example. We did not read the privacy policy because the page did not load.

How to evaluate Mitra yourself
- Pick one low-risk task that matches its documented capabilities: answers and makes phone calls from your own number, with live transcript, listening in and takeover.
- Write the expected output and what counts as failure before you start.
- Connect the minimum access needed, and check approval settings first.
- Run it twice and compare, then review every action it took.
- Check cost after any free allowance. Unknown price is not free.
