Lucas explained: plans, approvals and privacy
Lucas is a personal assistant you text in iMessage and WhatsApp. Its FAQ hides each answer behind a question, so the answers are easy to miss. This guide collects what Lucas says, with each claim attributed to the vendor. We have not used Lucas and have not tested any of it. The FAQ names Lucas Intelligence, Inc. as the operator. See also the Lucas record.
Plans and trial
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | Free |
| Lucas Pro | $20 | $192 |
| Lucas Max | $100 | $960 |
Lucas says new users get a seven-day reverse trial: paid features first, then a step down to Free unless you subscribe. Usage limits apply from day one and are shown only when one blocks a request. The FAQ gives no numeric limits and says your account billing page is the source of truth, so check it before paying.
What it connects to
- Email and calendar: Gmail or Outlook today. Lucas says it can search and summarise email, draft replies, inspect attachments, list events and prepare new ones. General IMAP may come later.
- Other categories listed: productivity, developer, health, design, finance and workflow tools, with provider-specific limits.
- Sign-up needs a mobile number only, per the FAQ. It says it never sends marketing texts.
Approvals, as Lucas states them
Lucas says it cannot take irreversible actions without your explicit confirmation, including sending an email, posting a message or creating a calendar event. It says it drafts, previews and waits for approval, and that it is built to message you, not to text other people from your iMessage, WhatsApp or SMS thread. It adds that sensitive email and calendar changes are previewed before they are committed. These are product statements. We have not checked how they hold up.
Privacy and memory, as Lucas states them
- Data from connected accounts is encrypted in transit and at rest, not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train generalised AI or machine learning models.
- Lucas can remember useful facts, and you can ask it to remember, change or forget something.
- Reminders, briefings and automation updates arrive through Lucas messaging. Lucas says it does not control every native phone app, such as the iPhone Clock alarm, unless a supported integration exists.
The FAQ lists [email protected] for privacy questions. A policy is not an independent audit.
Before you connect your inbox
- Read the billing page for current limits and what the trial converts to.
- Ask what the Gmail or Outlook permission scopes are and whether they include send rights.
- Test the confirmation step on a harmless draft first.
- Work through our privacy and approval checklist.
