Replit Agent billing explained
Replit does not charge a flat price per Agent request. Its documentation describes effort-based pricing: you pay for the work Agent does, shown as checkpoints. This guide follows Replit's AI billing page. The page points to Replit's pricing page for current rates and does not state dollar amounts itself, so we list none. We have not used Replit.
How a request is charged
- Replit says cost scales with the effort of the request. Small fixes typically cost less than complex builds.
- In Build Mode, completed work is captured as a checkpoint. Replit says a complex build is bundled into one checkpoint, so there are no intermediate ones.
- Every Agent interaction is billable. Replit says that if Agent only answers a question, for example in Plan Mode, there is still a charge even though no checkpoint appears, because checkpoints are generally shown only when code changes.
- Plan Mode uses the same effort-based pricing, and the docs say longer conversations and more complex requests cost more.
- Some Agent features call third-party models such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. Replit says these are billed at the provider's public API rate and deducted from your Replit credits.
What each plan includes, per Replit
| Capability | Starter | Core | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agent chat | Yes, daily cap | Yes | Yes |
| Full build | No | Yes | Yes |
| Plan Mode | No | Yes | Yes |
| Connectors | No | Yes | Yes |
| Active background tasks | Not listed | 1 | 10 |
| Collaboration seats | Not listed | 5 | 15 |
| Turbo mode | No | No | Yes |
| Published apps | 1 (30-day) | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Replit also lists Lite build, Design Canvas and Visual Editor on all three plans. Core and Pro get monthly credits that cover Agent and cloud services such as published apps, storage and databases. Pro credits roll over, but the page leaves the rollover period as an unfilled placeholder, so check the pricing page. All subscribers get one-time free Agent checkpoints.
Controlling spend
- Usage alerts, budget limits as hard caps, and real-time tracking, set under Account, then Billing.
- Credit packs, with discounts on larger purchases according to Replit.
- Per-checkpoint cost visible by hovering over the usage icon in the Agent tab. Replit says usage can take up to 30 minutes to appear on the dashboard.
- Replit suggests starting with small requests, using Lite mode for targeted edits and setting alerts before you exceed your credits. It also says you can choose Lite, Economy or Power to favour speed, cost or capability.
What to check before you buy
- Current plan prices and monthly credit amounts on Replit's pricing page, since this page lists none.
- That a budget cap is set before long sessions, because conversation-only requests still cost credits.
- Whether you need Plan Mode, Connectors or Turbo, which depend on the plan.
